Foundation paper piecing (quilting)

  • Studio Sessions 2924 College Avenue Berkeley, CA, 94705 United States (map)

Have you always wanted to try your hand at quilting? Are you interested in learning a new technique but don't know how to start? Don't fret! Amanda will teach you everything you need to know to begin your journey into Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP), a method employed in quilting. This approach utilizes paper as a stabilizing foundation during the assembly of quilt blocks.

Why this pattern?
Because at Studio Sessions, we truly believe we can use more LOVE, bringing the community together. We also want to emphasize that the Studio is an open, safe, and accepting place. This first FPP workshop is beginner friendly, open to LGBTQIA+ and allies :)

You'll learn:

  • How to follow a FPP pattern

  • How to sew the fabric together

  • Tips and techniques to finish your block

The workshop includes:

  • The sewing pattern is Pride Love by Berene of Happy Sew Lucky

  • Cut fabric strips, border, and backing

  • Fabric stabilizer, string (if we are doing the hanging version), thread, glue, pins, ruler, stilleto/awl, and sewing machine

In order to sign up for the workshop, you must know how to sew a straight stitch.
