Rue Quilt Coat

  • Studio Sessions 2924 College Avenue Berkeley, CA, 94705 United States (map)

This workshop is sold out.

Want to make a quilted coat/jacket but find the process intimidating? We got you! Sew the Rue Coat with us.
Select your size and color; your pieces will be ready to sew at the Studio.

Rue is a retro-inspired quilt coat designed by Spaghetti Western Sewing that features an oversized fit, split hem, collar, pockets, and bound edges.

In this one-day workshop, you will learn:

  • how to sew a jacket with pre-quilted fabric (bodice, sleeves)

  • set a collar and use trim

  • sew bias tape to finish the raw edges of your project

  • set snaps

  • tips and tricks to sew thick layers of fabric

$350 for this one-day workshop, including machine, notions, and fabric ready to sew!

This workshop is open to advanced beginners. You MUST KNOW how to operate a sewing machine (winding, threading) and sew a straight stitch in order to follow this workshop. If you took our Modules 1 to 3, you will have the skills needed.

Two color choices for the coat/jacket will be posted soon (most certainly a printed yellow and a solid navy blue).

Color choices: block print yellow cotton or navy blue gauze (the gauze was hard to photograph; it’s a bit lighter in person.
